The Special Needs Program at St. Joan of Arc School focuses on how to support the special needs and gifts of each and every student in the school community to feel welcome and secure. Our hope is to support all students in their efforts to become successful.
The support for this success here at St. Joan of Arc School will come in the form of our Special Needs Program. As with any program, administrative support, leadership and parent involvement must be on going. The Special Needs Program here at St. Joan of Arc School will find this on going support from the principal providing leadership, the teachers developing and implementing, the Special Needs coordinator advising and overseeing follow-up, the Education Specialist consulting, observing and assessing and the parent supporting and nurturing.
In addition, these members of St. Joan of Arc School’s Special Needs Program will: adapt curriculum and the learning environment (when deemed necessary), provide time for teacher preparation and planning, stress cooperative teaching and encourage peer tutoring and support.
Our goal is to provide for not only those students who are in “special need”, but to provide for our school community as a whole, thereby supporting all students in their efforts to become successful.
